About
Thalassa Robotics is building the first dynamic, high-bandwidth subsea network to monitor critical underwater infrastructure. The system connects modular, intelligent autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) into an ad-hoc mesh that streams real-time data back to the surface without relying on manned ships. With continuous, remotely adaptable missions, Thalassa enables faster, safer, and more reliable subsea data collection for operators responsible for oil & gas assets, telecom cables, and other long-lived maritime infrastructure.
Founded in 2025 by Vatsal Varma, Arjun Prabhakar, and Bryan Tan, Thalassa Robotics brings together engineering, analytics, and commercial experience from Duke, UC Berkeley, Qualcomm, Bain, Arista Networks, and UBS. The team is focused on a clear goal: replace intermittent, ship-based surveys with persistent subsea observability, so operators can understand what’s happening around their assets in real time. By pairing modern subsea robotics with always-on data, they’re working toward underwater infrastructure that is easier to manage, less risky to operate, and better instrumented for the long term.
